Days of gloom in Bollywood πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

I agree with Deeksha Sharma that Bollywood is losing its foothold in India. I'm a MA in journalism and mass communications myself. So I'll also put forth what I think regarding this.

The reasons behind the massive failures of Bollywood movies:

πŸ‘‰ It doesn't go according to the pulse of the youth. The shaadi shaadi shaadi thing is a very old theory.

πŸ‘‰ Films on social issues are getting made and they have superstar support too, which is good. But if it is getting preachy, the audience will get bored of gyaan gyaan and more gyaan and there are huge chances of the movie becoming a big flop.

πŸ‘‰ The late Indira Gandhi became the prime minister of India so many decades back. So the theory of career woman is not new at all. Please don't portray a woman as a career bitch. Having a career is not a bad thing. You can't call the girl a bitch just because she wants to have a career. If the movie portrays the 'career bitch' thing then surely the movie will be a flop. On top of this the audience may also decide to never watch that particular director and superstar's film in future. They may lose the female fan base too.

πŸ‘‰ Modern and educated women need not always drink alchohol, take narcotics and have random sex as portrayed widely in Bollywood movies.

πŸ‘‰ Please stop making biopics on each and every moderately successful Indian.

πŸ‘‰ There is no spare time unfortunately among today's youth for mushy romances in personal life. So showing the mushy romances in movies will make them feel irrelevant and they may walk out of the cinema halls midway. Somewhere down the line there should be a link with the audience.

πŸ‘‰ Stop explaining indian culture ie humare sanskar in detail, detail and even more detail. That trend is fully over. No more staring at short skirts. Girls, who know how to carry short skirts, and if it looks good on them can very well wear them on screen.

πŸ‘‰ Crying relatives, judges and even the superstars who come on singing and dance reality shows have definitely for sure broken the TRUST of the fans. All the fans by now know that it is totally fake and are fully scripted. The fight between the big film-dignitaries is shown with full special background score. Be it the award functions, the dance and singing reality shows or on stage-shows, the fighting weirdness shown in these, has gone into the nerves of the fans. They are simply pointing out, if the fight is for real, then why is it not cut at the editing table ? The fans of Bollywood movies all over the globe know fully that even this is totally fake. Doing such kind of heinous manipulations have made the fans lose trust in the superstars. So the fans are avoiding everything Bollywood.

πŸ‘‰ Because of the advent of smartphones, people find it easier and more comforting to see movies sitting at home or while traveling instead of the efforts to go to a single screen or multiplex.

πŸ‘‰ Mouthing the superhit dialogues of the old blockbusters of the same superstar, will boost the star's egoes, but the audiences have got bored because of it. So please avoid these.

πŸ‘‰ The audience now fully know in advance that whenever even a mediocre film is releasing, some or the other fake controversy will be shown in the media. I pray to God that the people of India should not lose trust on the media even. Such kind of fake controversies shown in media will also make the fans lose trust in the superstar even. They are asking openly- He is already such a big star, he is powerful too, why is he supporting it ?

I was a true blue Bollywood fan, as a child, as a teenager and in my twenties too. I still remember how the students of my college in Dombivli used to go ga ga over Shahrukh Khan. The chaiyya chaiyya, O o jaane ja na, ek pal ka jeena made the teenagers totally crazed about their favourite superstars. But greed in the form of manipulations and malpractices have destroyed Bollywood.

I want the old madness among the fans to be back. But its very difficult now. Even the remakes of south movies, very old blockbuster Bollywood movies and even Hollywood movies are already done to death.

     Let's pray for a miracle.

My suggestions:

πŸ‘We can show the issues of the current youth and the lifestyle relevant to them in the new movies. We already have Zoya Akhtar with us, so that won't be a problem.

πŸ‘Making movies out of books will be a great idea. Even earlier DevdasGangubai Kathiawadi2 states3 idiots and Raazi have been big blockbusters.

Hair-bun jewels 😍😍😍

I bought both these hair bun-jewels today from Sunday market, Ulwe. For a woman, I can surely claim that it can give tough competition to both Amazon and flipkart. I couldn't resist owning these. It was too tempting 😍😍😍.

Life with Prashant 10 🀣🀣🀣

I don't know, what problem men have in waking their wives up when they get up early in the morning. That's clearly because they'll lose 🀣🀣🀣. I can't figure out what kind of extreme strange competition these men do, that too with their own wives 🀣🀣🀣. I take sleeping pills at night, as prescribed by the psychiatrist. May be because of that I'm unable to wake up on time.

Not being able to wake up on time is not a handicap. I'M NOT HANDICAPPED 😑😑😑. So my mummy dearest can instruct her tongue to relax 🀣🀣🀣.  Initially the problem was not being able to get sleep. But now the problem is getting more sleep 🀣🀣🀣.

But he's not complaining. He's a better cook than me, I know 🀣🀣🀣. When nobody's complaining, why should I even spend these few seconds of bliss moments, getting worried ? May be like him, even I'm into some weird kind of competition 🀣🀣🀣. But so what ? I'll think πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€” and figure a way out. Yeah ! I've an idea. Let's hope it works. Can't share it on the public platform. Let's see... 😈😈😈 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️ 🀣🀣🀣

book launch of 'modern relationships' by author Priya Gopal

I'm back again for the launch of my new book 'Modern relationships'. It is published by notionpress.com .

My observations now, have made me think twice before jumping into any comment about any person within the family, friends, peer group or social media. Today’s man-woman relationship can be very varied, more meaningful, more respectful, non-commercial, more equal and with more mutual respect towards each other. The adjusting, all rounder, financially independent, well-mannered and understanding spouse is the one who everybody wants. And today in the wide wild world, you get them too. Reading this book will make you more aware about what to expect and be prepared for the mindsets in big cities around the globe.

This book has got basically two stories. The foundations of both the stories are today's modern city life. It challenges age-old myths, and are more attractive, real and can be emulated.

πŸ‘‰ The first story consists of Sonali and Adarsh. After rejecting three marriage proposals from well-to-do guys because they wanted her to be a housewife, Sonali an aspiring PhD in microbiology student, found the rare mutual respect and understanding in Adarsh, a taxi driver. To the amazement of all, she married him.

πŸ‘‰ Now, the second story consists of the enchanting prostitute Antara's mad influence on business tycoon Arvind Kaushal and later on his very own son Devesh. Aruna devi's strong and intelligent decisions amid the herculean issues she faced as a wife and later on as a mother is something all women would like to read. The life of the respectable sisters Sonali and Namrata, who hated their mother Antara also will make for an amazing read.

There are issues in everybody's life. How to keep your head calm and handle the issue is the wit to look out for. So it's my salute to the spirit of a respectable woman.

The book 'modern relationships' by myself is available in www.notionpress.com in paperback format.

Life with Prashant 9 🀣🀣🀣

Prashant Poojari is sleeping peacefully right now when I'm posting this blog. Today he confessed before me his mad love towards the three sofa cushions. 🀣🀣🀣 Two days ago he made me feel jealous because of his attention towards the micro-details of the new dosa-frying pan 🀣🀣🀣. He told me openly through his very own mouth that if I can't clean the pan crystal clean, I should not use it. 🀣🀣🀣 - funnier than the funniest !

In the cockroach killing competition in our home, ie between me and Prashant, he started it, and I joined it because I wanted to keep his heart, when I held the broom opposite to the TV, he said I'm disqualified because what if the TV breaks ? But you guys don't know, in the end he won the competition hands down. He managed to kill the cockroach without even touching the TV 🀣🀣🀣. According to him, its something very new and innovative means to showing the girls that the men are way better than them 🀣🀣🀣.

Good night for now, tomorrow morning I have to wake up early for the boot-polish competition. I and he will polish the ten each pairs of shoes out of the total twenty pairs of shoes that he got from a massive discount sale today evening at the Seawoods- Grand Central mall 🀣🀣🀣. He has selected the white color boot-polish for himself and given the black one to me.

Then the greatest customer that he is, the Grand Central mall authorities have given him two pineapples free for the biggest floater shoes customer in the world. So he has invited eight of his friends on Sunday morning for the pineapple cutting competition between him and me at home. When my mother asked why the friends, he said to her very confidently- "What if Priya cheats in the competition ?" My mother just disconnected the call 🀣🀣🀣.

The million dollar question in every movie-lover writers' mind- All doubts cleared.

My inference: There are people who are like me and the field they've chosen for themselves is- writing. They may be good writers and may be even having the relevant qualifications of a professional writer like MA in journalism and mass communications or MA in English or a creative writing degree. So far so good. In today's times, with internet facility so much can be done. Writing blogs, novels or short stories can be done in the confines of once own home with the help of a laptop, smartphone or tablet. Bhagwan shri Amazon ki jai ho ! Bhagwan shri Google ki jai ho ! As compared to olden days, the path to publish your book or ebook is relatively easy.

But there is one question in all new book/ebook writers' mind, the answer to which is explained below. I got the answer from the internet:

I wrote a book. How can I turn it into a movie?

Ans: Turn it into a script.

Seriously, if you have a good story that you think would make an excellent movie then turn it into a script. Books will only become movies if:

  1. They become hugely popular bestsellers.
  2. If a producer just happens to absolutely love the story because it’s interesting and original.

Really, if you want the book to become a movie then you’ll have more success by writing a script since that’s what producers deal with. They read scripts, not books.

Producers really only accept books that are in the mainstream or have some sort of acclaim. They won’t waste their time on this ‘one guy who wrote a book but promises it’s the most amazing story ever worthy of a move and possibly a franchise’.

Movies are expensive - little people rarely get their big break on the first try. If you have a truly movie-worthy book then turn it into a screenplay. Screenplays are the industry standard. A book might even just be thrown in the bin because it doesn’t fit the standards for submissions.

There is often rules with scripts such as:

  • Large production companies won’t accept screenplays directly but through a representative agency - eases the burden of sorting through scripts on the production company.
  • They won’t accept unsolicited scripts or anything that doesn’t follow the given format - they will be scrapped.

Sometimes they’ll downright bin scripts just by reading the first page; such as if your script has the title “Cobra-saurus vs Manatee-rex” or “Teenage Wizard School” or “Star Battles”. Sometimes they’ll just downright think your script is boring - sometimes not even getting past the 5th page before scrapping it.

It’s a tough life but keep persevering and you’ll get there. Make sure you have a decent story first and then turn it into a decent script. Don’t waste your time trying to send a book in.

If you want your book to become a movie before it becomes a best-seller then perhaps your intention was not to write a best-selling book in the first place but to write a movie script.
